We held the last Experience Counts computer workshop for the mature worker group at McBride Career Group yesterday. It was a really fun session with lots of interaction and discussion. The primary topic was Free Online Resources, in particular networking, training, website builders and the cloud. My next few posts will focus on these topics, providing links and other useful information. Let's start with networking.
For the mature worker, social media as a form of networking might seem like a strange concept. However, social media can provide you with connections you might not have made otherwise. The primary tool for professional networking is LinkedIn and that is what I am going to focus on here. Facebook and Twitter are also useful tools but do tend to cross over into our personal lives. I prefer to keep some separation between my personal and professional lives. LinkedIn provides that for me. If you're not sure whether using LinkedIn is for you, read these articles on the Third Quarter website;
- More about using LinkedIn: Attracting recruiters to your profile.

The are many resources online to help you learn more on this topic. Here's a link to a free GCFLearnFree course to get you started on your networking path.
What are your favourite networking tools and resources? We would love to hear from you.
